WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines

About The Course 

Who it's for :  

This course is WSET's most popular course. It is suitable for enthusiasts who have a serious interest in wine as well as aspiring sommeliers and professionals working in the industry who want to expand their knowledge. No previous wine qualifications are required.  

For those looking to expand their international wine knowledge, this course provides a solid introduction and while a not a prerequisite is suitable for those who may have already studied Australian wines.  

What You’ll Learn:

  • The characteristics of all the major, and several minor, grape varieties of the world; the styles of wine they produce; and how to use label information to understand a wine’s quality and style

  • Environmental influences and grape-growing options in the vineyard and how these will impact the style and quality of wine

  • How winemaking and bottle ageing influence the style and quality of wine

  • How environmental influences, grape-growing options, winemaking and bottle ageing influence the style and quality of wines made from the principal grape varieties

  • How the production process can influence the styles of sparkling and fortified wines

  • The key principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine, and in the pairing of food and wine

  • Learn to taste and describe wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting

Course Cost

 $ 1,200 per student ​

Class Format: 

​This course consists of 16 guided learning lectures which are normally run over 3 full days starting at 9H00 and ending at 17H30. A 1-hour multiple-choice examination is held on a set date a few weeks after the lectures. See course dates for exact date details. 
   
In addition to these hours its recommended that participants dedicate at least 11 hours of private study. 

All WSET exams are marked in the UK and successful participants are awarded Certificate with Lapel Pin. 

Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 participants to provide the best learning experience.
